“Education is the most powerful weapon, which you can use to change the world”.

Aim
Moulding a new generation among the fisherfolk and coir-workers communities by providing quality education.
Target
Poor and weak children of 45 villages numbering to 34,000.
Mode of Function
•Setting up of Study Centres for poor and weak children with the assistance of groups and Gymnasiums in Europe.
•Sessions on character formation and personality development to build up social leadership.
•Career guidance centre to put them in desirable orbits in professional careers.
Our experience taught us that the most powerful means to build up a strong and awakened generation in our highly exploited and illiterate communities is to provide quality education to the children. It was a totally new beginning when a Study centre was started in 1993 in one village, but soon seeing the tremendous effect of the Centre more Centers were started in the subsequent years. Now there are six Study centres supported by Gymnasiums and groups in Germany.
Thrust areas of activity
• Early morning classes for the school going children.
• Guided study hours in the evening
• Week-end special session for personality development and character formation.
• Parent - teacher - student triangular interaction cum monitoring sessions at monthly intervals.
• Local management committee with representatives from local community, parents and teachers.
• Vacation Camp on Career guidance and social responsibility.
The programme receives excellent response from the local community and it proved worthwhile also in terms of compensation for the deficiencies in the formal system. The percentage of results shot from 24% to 85% within a period of five years as a result of the intervention. Distributed in six Study Centres as many as 1100 children and 180 youth from 17 villages are benefiting from the programme.
Future Plans:
a) Setting up of a full-time Career Guidance Centre. By this every year at least 1000 youth can be trained and guided in developing their future.
b) Starting a Study-Home for children and youth, who have no facility and situation at home to continue their education. We find that many children and youth with high intellectual calibre stop their studies half way due to severe constraints at home.
